I restored a Dearborn Oct31 1966 fastback S Code. It had no plating on the steering box related components. Is there a difference between assembly plants?

+1  The visual differences are from treating (how it was made) and what the base metal was.

No differences on the finishes between plants unless your referring to the "black out treatment" used some years and plants.
