CAN ANYONE TELL ME THE ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER OF THE COBRA CLOSED LETTER (SOLID LETTER) VALVE COVERS? I KNOW BUDDY BAR MADE THE OPEN LETTER DESIGN BUT I READ SOMEWHERE THAT ANOTHER COMPANY MADE THE CLOSED LETTER DESIGN VALVE COVERS THAT WERE ALSO OFFERED OVER THE COUNTER. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Offenhauser was the other one, IIRC.

Thanks but I'm not referring to the open letter valve covers, I'm talking about the closed letter valve covers.

Right, that's what I was referring to. Believe the marking is OECO on the bottom for Offenhauser.

I have several sets of 66-70 small block cobra closed letter valve covers and I can find no markings on any of them. I'll try to attach a picture of them if I can.

Are those redone or service replacements/NOS?
-
They're NOS. They have no manufacturer's mark inside. I'm trying to find the name of the original manufacturer but it was not Buddy Bar or Offenhauser. Here's a picture of the inside.

I don't remember seeing any ether.

I had to review my notes. Ansen was and still is the MFG of these valve covers for Ford.
-
Thank you, yes, I do remember the name Ansen now. Thanks again.

The valve covers in the picture are a bit later NOS service part valve covers. Note the slots at the PCV hole and larger PCV hole. There have been several variations of these covers over the years. The ones currently available are even different yet. Scott Drake made a super reproduction years ago, but they are no longer available due to Ford licensing issues - i.e. they are available from Ford Racing, so Drake's cannot be licensed.

Sorry, I posted the wrong picture at the beginning of the thread. Those were the later valve covers. Here's the picture I meant to post the first time.
These are authentic Cobra closed letter valve covers.

I tried to post pictures of the fronts and backs but it only took the backs. Here's a picture of the fronts.
