1964.5 Coupe interior color information
« on: March 05, 2018, 02:19:44 PM »
I want to paint the dash and other metal parts for my 1964.6 restoration project.  The local paint source is unable to find a paint code to mix.  Interior color is the stock red, trim code 85.  There best suggestion is to bring in an interior piece they can color match.  I have to think that after 53 years of use and exposure these interior pieces are somewhat faded, and a scan of that will produce a faded color.  I have read that some use the rattle cans that the Mustang Parts Sources sell, but I am reluctant to go the rattle can route.  Certainly I am not the first to stumble across this.  What is the solution?
Thanks! Phil

You can use one of the portable color scanners and bring it to the car instead of taking the car or part to the paint shop. Should be able to find a nice unexposed sample of interior paint under the dash pad

Just an option
