Welcome to a new home and beginning

That's not an 'L', it's the toggle bar for the portal configuration.... which we'll be removing this evening probably. Clicking the bar on the left will remove the side boxes.

Charles and Jeff,
I like the layout of this forum. Hopefully we can get more to come over and check it out.
Jeff, I see you use 2nd Skin's sludge. I'm using it on my 68fb as well, but not in any concours way.

I purchased with the Spectrum label - not sure if 2nd Skin is exactly the same.
Thanks for the kind words - its still a work in progress.

may i make a suggestion?? how about a 'remember me' button next to the login.....that way i don't have to type my password each time. will the new software support this feature? this new 'coat of paint' looks fine to me.

When you login, there is an option to stay logged in "forever." If this doesn't work, then it means you probably don't have cookies enabled in your web browser.

Thanks for the invite Charles! I'll get my profile updated soon.

-
Well this is cool! Thanks for the invite Jeff! I'll be at the MCA west show and look forward to seeing everyone!
-
Great to see all the familiar "faces" and some new ones. Hope the site will be up to your expectations. Charles and I (as well as Randy in the background making sure the lights stay on) will do our part but it's a community effort - many hands make the work light. Or something like that ;)

Welcome Donald! It's been a little slow here starting out. Mainly because I think most of us already registered are the folks that normally answer all the questions! Hopefully the site will grow and be a valuable resource to those interested in this part of the hobby.
-
Welcome to all the new members - things are a bit slow with the end of summer and the start of school for many. But glad to see you all here
Jeff

Hello everyone,
I'm new to the site and this site is just what I was looking for.
I've recently bought a 1968 8R010S15324 GT/CS 390 C-6 San Jose car (8R01S 65B M 6G 26C 72 7 U ) delivered to Honolulu HI. It is a true GT with Interior Decor group upper and lower consoles, Power Disk brakes, Power steering. The previous owner started to do a concourse restoration but lost his job and had to sell. The body work has been completed and has been media blasted. They took care to tape over the factory drips on the underside while blasting. The engine has been stripped down, block was tumbled and magna fluxed the heads haven't been touched and need attention there are new pistons and rods. Transmission hasn't been touched either. The car is being moved from CA. to NJ. as I type. I would like to continue the concourse restoration but need help with what order the restoration goes in does anyone know of a good publication out there that explains a concourse restoration? All comments welcome
-
Welcome pnsy56shop to the site.
Looks like a fun project - take your time and ask allot of questions, plenty of help and normally you only get one shot at doing a car. I've owned a number of Calif Specials over the years (currently a J code GT with bench seat) build around the same times as your car
As far as good publications IMHO there are none, one of the reasons we put together this site. The hobby (mostly due to the internet) is progressing much quicker than in the past so much of what get printed can be out of date fairly quick. At the same time some of the basics have been well researched but its the real details that will make the difference between another restoration and one that is on the cutting edge of our current understanding.
A decent first step would be to get a copy of the current MCA Judging rules.
I most (kindly) warn you that since your doing a San Jose car in the north east it will be important to ask allot of questions and for support since your car will often be very different from other cars you will find in your area. So consider starting your own thread (include your VIN and details) over in the 67-68 section and we can get started. Plenty of people here with experience with full restorations.
We're here to help
PS - the first picture you posted appears to be a Marti report from another car ;)
-
Jeff thank you
Yes, your right about Marti report don't know where that one came from? Here is the correct one
-
Cool new forum. :)
I was wondering were all the smart people were hiding ::)
-
Great site. Thanks to all who are working to put this together.

Welcome to all our new members - the numbers are growing
Lots of competition for everyone's time right now with school (kids) starting for many and just "life" for many others. We're here to take your mind off those other things as a sounding board, a place to learn and a place to share.
Again - welcome all

Hello All,
I just found this site address over on the Boss Forum. This site looks much more user friendly than VMF now is, and lots of people with extensive knowledge have already moved over here. I registered and look forward to being a member here. Thank you.

Welcome Dennis!
-
Welcome Dennis - good to see you here. Glad your here - pull up a chair
-
Newbie here and wanted to say hello to all. I visit a couple of other sites and know a few of the names here. I have a 70 GO Boss 302 and I am currently restoring a 65 vintage burgundy convertible. Sounds like a great group of car guys here. How is the best way to post pics here?
John
-
Welcome
To post pictures, what I found that works for me is to get an account at one of the free picture hosting sites (I use Photo Bucket) then up load my pictures there (set up different directories if your going to store allot) and then just post the link in your posting.
The picture site will give a number of different urls to use I use the bottom most one on the list at PhotoBucket
Hope this helps
