Anyone have an idea what this part is?? Behind the radio maybe??
-
Must be for an early (1964-1/2-66) Mustang? I don't recognize it for anything later.
-
For size - about 6" across the top edge?
-
I've seen it, but I honestly can't remember where. It seems like it was behind the dash or maybe in the console area. I'm pretty sure that the bracket is meant to keep pressure on whatever part mounts nearby, to eliminate rattles.

Some of the features remind me of the thin metal straps that hold the lower steering column cover at the dash of a 69-70.

That may be it. That does sound familiar.

Is it the 017A50? From 69-70 instrument panel illustration.

I think that is it, though it's been a while since I had my '69 dash apart.

that looks right, still not exactly sure where it goes...it is definitely 69/70....i've had lots of dashes apart and have only run across this part once or twice...can't believe its got everyone scratching their heads..... :-\

Not easy when its not in our hand (just a 2 dimension picture) and nothing to compare the size of the item. Could be a foot long or only an inch ;)

I should have posted a larger clipping. Also, I've included the text entry. Hope this helps!
FYI this illustration is from the Body section of the MPC. 017A50 is a Body part. Parts with asterisks by the basic numbers are listed in the Chassis section.

I just took my dash out and do not seem to have this part. 69 GT350 w/tilt fly away column.
