What is the correct voltage regulator stamping supposed to be on a Oct 64 build fastback 289 w/ AC? I see yellow Autolite, white Autolite, and white Fomoco script are offered.

Believe you will find the that
yellow silver printing was for standard (AF engineering number) and silver yellow for the heavy duty (TF engineering number) for cars with that option, bigger battery, larger alternator amps ...
There was a issue with the early voltage regulators sorry can't recall the month and year of the change) Voltage regulators after that date were marked with a yellow paint daub on the cover. Will try and remember to find that info and post. Wrote an article for MCA decades ago that included that info

Opps got them reversed :'( Lucky someone else picked up on it and let me know. THANKS
Post corrected

Thanks Jeff! Hopefully you find the info...

Think it applies to later cars but will find it ;)

Since this is a general discussion of voltage regulators for 65-66 as a reminder from the TSB articles
Vehicles assembled after Oct. 26, 64 have a revised regulator that can be identified by either a
1- daub of yellow paint above the "A" in Autolite
2- the line under the word Autolite has been deleted.
The marked covers should be found starting Oct. 26 through mid 1965 when stock would have been purged of all stock.
So real close to your build period. Could go either way since we don't know when you car was built for sure
Hope this helps

This is great info. How do I check if I need the silver (38 or 42 amp) or yellow (45 or 55 amp). Electrical is not my strong point!

If you had A/C or the heavy duty battery option you got the yellow TF identified regulator. I am not sure about convertible or smog . All of the rest were base electrical systems and typically received the silver AF marked regulator. FYI the common replacement Ford kept in inventory was the yellow stamped TF heavy duty version because it would work regardless of alternator. It meant less inventory to stock. This is the reason why many of the yellow stamped regulators ended up on otherwise all original cars because they were replaced early in life with the de facto replacement.
