Title: Interior black spray paint
Post by: Hipo giddyup on August 03, 2017, 12:13:32 PM
I am looking for a recent census on a good match for interior black spray paint, (66 Metuchen coupe).  I want to do a quick respray on my latest project and I am looking for the best match to the factory appearance without using a gun. I have used spray paint lacquers in the past (10 years ago) but not sure if they are still available or if the quality/mix has changed. Any feedback ie: vendor, brand, pictures, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

I did my full interior with this, was very happy with the outcome. NPD custom orders this and had it matched apparently. A big factor to warn you about is using it on colder or humid days, don't do it, doesn't lay down properly. Did my dash and has to take it back down to metal and re-prime and paint because I did it on a "bad day".

I've attached a couple pics, it's hard to tell because of the glare, but what I liked about this is it can go on very thin and do a great job covering up, but maintaining the texture of panels and such, also, I really liked that it wasn't sooo perfect that the dash came out too smooth, it has the perfect ever slight orange peel in the final, I'm not talking bad orange pell, I'm talking the good kind, more of a match to the way it looked originally.

regards,

Jason

I used chassis black lacquer from Eastwood and was very happy with the results. Just happened to have it around so i gave it a shot. It has held up well. Im a professional painter and would also advise as previously stated that a 70 degree low humidity day is best with lacquer.

Thanks guys. Both look great and I would be happy with either result! I'll post some pics when I'm finished.
