Title: Photo: 1978 Ford Engineers at Test Track for launch of Fox Body

A friend shared this photo taken after the Fox body was in it's final stages (just before production).
Some stayed on to work on the Pace Car and others dispersed for new projects.  I know a few that ended up in the SVO department as people were "looking for homes" within Ford in the mundane 80's!

Yes
Roger pointed out that was a 2.3 Turbo car .  I don't know what the others were (mix of L Six , 302's?) I posted it at FourEyedPride.com and everyone REALLY is enjoying talking about it.

There are so many over there and many that didn't know it was Dearborn Test track !  (That is the track we got to drive on for the 100th anniversary.   http://www.gearthhacks.com/dlfile5969/Ford-Test-Track,-Dearborn,-Michigan.htm
(It's small compared to GM track here near me )

A local friend of mine was involved with the track testing of the '79 model.  I sent him a link to the picture and he said he recognized a few of those guys.

"135" Roger paid a visit on Sunday and shared a lot of stories !   I asked to copy two photos -this for the gang at FourEyedPride.com .  (I had to join to post -can't believe I never spent time there)

He looked at my SCANER like a man "with a plan" - I hope he documents some of his amazing stuff.

I remember taking a tour of the Mustang plant in late '78
when they were just starting to make the '79s.
One of the cars had "T-5" emblems on it, headed for Germany.

Thanks for posting the photo.  That is a pre-production 79 Cobra.  They never had body color grills in production.

I would love to see some on the VIN's on those cars!
