Is there a product or method that will remove the black stuff from the shield with out damage to the original finish ? Thanks, Brian
-
There was not finish on that part, it was bare steel. You can neutralize the corrosion, but it will likely return
-
Brian is that surface pitted also? If so your better off just replacing with one that does not have the damage IMHO
-
interesting. I've seen this black stuff before. Usually a part of the general rust/corrosion package. It's a surface situation that can be chipped/scraped off with a utility knife. I have heard and read that ' bare steel ' is the usual and was a bit surprised at the appearance of this shield. I had not though of replacing. I didn't know that was an option ? This shield may have been a replacement ? Part is new to me and is for a C5AW-C Daytona pinion support. It does have a yellow dab on the side. Thanks for the help.

Mabye evap o rust for a short time enough to remove the " color " then Boeshield.
-
OK a bit more cleaning. Appears to be all steel. Thanks, Brian
-
Very nice now

Much improved. Of course if the light pitting makes a difference a swap is possible as mentioned. Just have to get a better one
-
The stamped steel shield is simply pressed on. You can find a better one from a cheaper application and swap that part easily.

The shield was serviced. I have bought a few over the years but don?t remember the part number.
