Title: 64.5 Fuel Filler Hose Clamps
Post by: Countrysquire on March 24, 2023, 11:37:21 AM
Are these original band clamps?  The tank and hose had been replaced, but these look old and I will restore them if so. They are marked 2.725, which I assume to be the diameter, and a ?C? in a trapezoid.

Look right.  If you find a source let me know.  I have some that work, but they don't have the markings and are more narrow than originals.

Thanks Charles. I will work them back into shape before sending out for plating. I sure hope the plater doesn?t lose them, the engine ID tag, or any of the hard to find fasteners.

Plating the engine ID tag?

Plating the engine ID tag?

I had read in a couple places that they were zinc plated, but that doesn?t make sense to me since the ID tag is aluminum.

Why I asked.  :) Never hear they were zinc plated or finished from anyone but then again there is the internet  ::).

I'd be a little hesitant to zinc plate them as it may make them prone to crack when re-crimping.  Will be surprised if they re-crimp without breaking, regardless.  Be sure to use the correct original style filler hose and not the reinforced repro that has been sold for many years.

Makes sense. I will just give them a light polishing then some corrosion prevention and hope for the best.
