Title: Window Slats/Gasket
Post by: Brian Conway on October 27, 2012, 06:11:30 PM
     69-70 Rear window slats.  The lowest window slat has one hole at each side for the lower hold down bracket to clamp into.  At this location, the hole, is a gasket.  I have not seen that this gasket is included with any of the hardware kits.  In my experience this gasket is never mention by any of the usual suppliers.  Is this gasket being repro'd or supplied by any one ?  Thanks,  Brian

I understand that the "gasket" or ring is  now being reproduced - was mentioned over on the Boss Registry site. Will see if I can find  a reference. At least we will not have to cut any more valve stem caps to serve that purpose any longer ;)  - what is on my Boss

     Thank you Jeff.  Not a critical must have piece but a correct looking/functioning part would be good.  Currently an ' O ' ring serves the purpose and can be seen in the pic.  Hope you can turn something up.  Brian

Almost sounds too good to be true.
Now I don't have to spend 2K for an NOS louver setup to get the rings too?
See my latest in a litany of posts related to them since the dawn of the internet here: http://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/index.php?topic=5137.0

     Jeff Speegle did find a source for these reproduction gaskets.  I got the information and made contact with Jeff Kennard in Delaware.  Jeff K. sent a photo of the louver grommets along with the costs.  I got a set; installed them and am quite happy with them.  They are a perfect fit, are black in color and made of a hard plastic type material.  If your interested: Jeff Kennard has a limited supply and can be reached at;

Thanks Brian, I sent an email just before this post.
Not sure about black, but perhaps the originals I recall seeing years ago were sun bleached.
That would explain Jeff's picture of a grey one.
I sure would like to know how they stand up to side by side comparison to those included with a louver kit.
Somebody with an NOS set needs to chime in to settle the question.
I've seen Bob Perkins sell NOS kits on eBay before.
I'm sure he would know.
