Title: Freeze plugs in my 67 390GT
Post by: 67foxgt390 on November 25, 2012, 12:19:43 AM
Hello everyone, My issue is that I have a  leaky freeze plug on my car and it is dripping coolant. It is the  drivers side rear one. My question is can it be replaced without removing the engine? If not  does any one know how I can stop this leak I really don't feel like pulling the engine. I want to thank you all in advance. The posters on this forum are the greatest!! Thanks for all your help!!

Getting the old one out is not that hard but getting the new one in is challenging. You can loosen th motor mount and jack up slightly

Not sure if you want to keep it original looking or just want to stop the leak. There are 'expandable copper freeze out plugs' which you place in the hole and tighten the acorn nut. Made for areas where you can't hammer in an original style. May be some clearance issue since the nut will stick out.
