Correct battery for 1967
« on: January 20, 2019, 08:02:22 AM »
Can someone tell me which battery is correct for a 67 Mustang.   Autolite yellow top or red caps?

You have not provided enough information. It depends on the engine and what options you have.

Here we go again!

True what Bob says.

There are many, many threads already on this topic that covers the various options.

Here we go again!

I was just thinking the same thing😊

If it were only that easy.

From what I have read and researched, it pretty much impossible to find a correct battery for a 67. In the unlikely event you find an original, it will cost a fortune and, if my research is correct, none of the repops  (or even the toppers) are correct looking for 67.

Sorry, My 67 Convertible has a 289-2 barrel, auto transmission, deluxe/decor package interior.   My car is far from show quality but I'm detailing the engine bay and want the correct top for my battery.   Personally, I like the look of the red caps better than yellow, but curious which, if any is correct for this car.

the caps themselves would be correct BUT the rest of the topper is not.

It would depend on whether the car is equipped with the HD battery option or air conditioning I think might trigger that. You could have either a Group 22 or Group 24 battery. Since they don't make a Group 22F battery cover you really don't have any choice but to use a Group 24F battery. All of those would come from the dealer with red caps I think.

If you did a search I'm sure you would find a few long threads discussing this very thing
