64-66 ashtray paint
« on: December 16, 2010, 07:46:13 PM »
Looking at the paint on the 64 we're doing now and noticed overspray on the ashtray - looks like it was part way installed and painted along with the dash?

Or am I seeing things? :)

IMHO - looks like an earlier touch up - Don't recall seeing an original (untouched) with overspray like that

I am in agreement with Jeff . All the originals I have seen show no evidence of overspray over the rivets. Bob

+2-I would also recomend a nice crisp clean reproduction ash tray for your restoration-I have one in my '65 and its a very nice piece!

I would recommend getting the original replated in zinc and reassembling with new exact rivets.

Here's an example of an ash tray from a unrestored 65 Dearborn car.
