Cobra Dual Quads

(1/1)

A friend of mine is selling a cobra 2x4 carb set.  It?s missing the air cleaner.  Can someone tell me if this is the real deal?

I wish I had taken more photos!!  I was only thinking of the numbers.

Any idea what the going price is?

J_Speegle:
Appears that the intake and at least the one carb I saw the numbers (3258S) on match the one I have well had until recently.

Can't help with prices - gave mine assembly with NOS filters to a friend who needed it. They come up for sale (intake or intake and carbs alone) every so often on EBay and don't appear to be a fast mover

Dan Case:
1+ on slow moving.

2-4V system components for the Carter(R) carburetors are not in broad demand. The only Ford cars to use them as factory options were 1964-65 Cobras and then many of the parts in a system were Cobra unique. The top competition induction system accessory for any 260/289 Ford 1963-65 was the 4-2V Weber(R) carburetor systems. In 1966 Ford released a High Rise 2-4V system with Holley(R) carburetors and in 1967 and new very different 2-4V intake manifold replaced the 1966 version. Ford and Shelby then sold accessory versions of the 1967 design through about 1971.

The only demand I see people posting want advertisements for are parts specific to factory Cobra installations.  Building up a Cobra correct system one part at a time can take ten or more years and cost multiple thousands dollars beyond finding a nice intake manifold and specific date range carburetors.

I bought this intake set-up at SAAC 9 in rough shape. I reconditioned it enough to be able to run it on my '65 coupe. It was GREAT !! I didnt get the OE fuel log and built one from a Holley unit and air cleaners were also after market. I did get the OE mechanical throttle linkage. I sold it years ($2005?) later to a guy in Portland, OR who wanted it for his Cobra build. I dont remember if it was a real Cobra or not. I sold it for $900 which I thought was fair at t he time.
