66 and later oil pan- SD reproduction opinions
« on: March 02, 2022, 05:23:59 PM »
On the later style oil pan with the side mounted drain plug I see many people reproduce this pan, but incorrectly for earlier cars, like my 67.
The later styles are pinched in on the shallow end of the pan for tie rod clearance. My 67 is smooth and has no side pinches.
SD does have a correct looking pan (not their 6 quart) and I wonder if it's any good.

I've poked around looking for a pan that doesn't 3-5 hours of work to look presentable for concours.
Does the the SD qualify as a nice piece? See pic for area that is not pinched on the SD piece and proper for my build.

I may also do a wanted ad to leave my options open.
