66 Shelby Rear Leaf Spring Selection

(1/1)

gimmea250swb:
I've been looking for some original leaf springs for some time and as you can imagine, they're like unobtanium. I'm doing some work in the rear and it may be time to improve what's on the car now (clearly incorrect).  What's the best selection for a new set of leaf springs?

I'll keep my eyes open for a set of 5556-S and maybe merge the 4th spring if I ever find one.

Bob Gaines:
If you are concerned enough to be looking for a correctly marked C4-S springs then you will probably want them or their temporary stand in replacement to look as close to original too. I would get a set of the replacement leaf springs from Virginia classic Mustang and strip the black paint off of them then replace the band clamps with the typical for 66 SJ "O" style band clamps. https://www.virginiaclassicmustang.com/65-73-Rear-Leaf-Spring-Assemblies-Pair-P5261.aspx    I would liberally cover them with the rust inhibitor of your choice like T9 .

Thanks Bob. I'll have to do a search on those "o" band clamps.

Ah, got it:
