Title: 1966 convertible trunk torsion rod anti-rattle painted?
Post by: dsielke on March 08, 2017, 04:14:24 PM
I seem to be finding conflicting answers so I thought I would ask. Should the plastic anti-rattle coil that goes on the torsion rod that holds the trunk open be painted body color? It doesn't appear it was painted underneath.

Closest I could find was about three weeks earlier but same plant ;)

Should provide the answer

Appears that the springs arrived to the car assembly plant with a black protective coating that is visible under the wrap - like later years

Other years and plants are different

Ah, that explains why it was black underneath instead of body color. Thanks very much.
