Title: 65 glove box door emblem paint
Post by: C5ZZ on August 12, 2011, 08:36:21 PM
I need to repaint the red, white and blue on my 65 glove box
door emblem. Does anyone know the correct shades of paint
that Ford used? I imagine that Testors is what most use, do
you have a number or name of what color you have used?

TIA

If you look closely at a new original, the blue and red are both clear with just a little tint color in it.  You can see through to the chrome underneath.  I used PPG Omni catalyzed clear and tinted it with some PPG Concept color paint.

I put it on with a toothpick and let it run where it needed to go.

I keep a can of the '65 interior paints, red, med. blue and white and use them if I need to re-paint an emblem.  Although, I tape up and lightly spray instead of using a brush or anything else.
