Title: Parking brake hardware
Post by: app01 on January 31, 2013, 09:44:51 AM
70 Boss 302 -
May 1970  Dearborn Boss 2

What are the finishes for the following parking brake pieces:
- Front cable spring- this is the large spring under the car over  the threaded end of the cable?
- Small dished cap over the  spring end
- Cable connector (ties both rear brake cables together)
-Cable equalizer bracket (attaches to the threaded end of the front cable)
- Cable idler

- U shaped brake hose clip

Also as a side question, should the 2 idler arm mounting bolts  have clipped washers, or could they be standard  fully round washers? The reason I ask is my car has the fully round ones, and for the exception of the clipped edge are identical in all other dimensions and finish (was protected on the backside). The steering box bolts do however have clipped washers.

Thanks,
Tony

spring= dark tempered
cup, idler, sleeve=natural bare steel
nuts=phosphate/red dye

I've never seen idler bolts that were not clipped

Thanks Tim.

A previous owner must have replaced the washers at some point.

Any thoughts on the finish for the U shaped brake hose retaining clip finish? These are the ones that attach the flexible brake hose to the  brackets.
