Ram Air Flapper Lid & Base
« on: April 13, 2015, 08:36:20 PM »
Hey Everyone,

Going thru some of my parts today. I have in my possession, a ram air base (I believe) and flapper assembly with rubber seal. There are no markings on any of it except for the vacuum valve on the flapper lid (3-68 I believe). The base also has a vacuum unit on the snorkel part but I don't see any markings. I've searched the internet but cannot find any useful information about this unit. I would like to know for sure what it is I have and maybe assign a value to it. Not really interested in selling it, just seeking information. If anyone needs additional information, I'll be happy to provide what I can.

Thanks!

Think your going to need to post a picture of a few of them. No engineering numbers or ID so it will all be physical features and clues

If its not a Frankenstein piece (something made up from various other sources)

Might be a Cougar, Montego or other Ford product

Check out https://www.428cobrajet.org/id-air-cleaner-68

If the lid is blue (hard to tell in the photos) it would appear to be an early '68 CJ lid.

The vacuum-motor snorkel looks like a '68 289-302 unit.

I think you've got a '68 small block base & snorkel with a '68 CJ lid.

Thanks guys for the help. I was pretty sure the lid was a 68, but was sure about the base. I thought it might be part of a ram air system since it has the vacuum motor on it as well.

Vacuum on the snorkel IMHO has nothing to do with ram air. Plenty of ordinary air cleaners out there with that feature
