66 NSS wire clip
« on: January 15, 2017, 08:22:37 PM »
Ive read a few times about a clip on the bell housing for the Neutral Safety switch wiring for the C-4. I haven't been able to come up with much info on it or where exactly it would be. Did they just utilize one of those rubber coated j clips or was it a specific clip?

First started looking for some pictures to illustrate for you where the clips (vacuum line and nuterual safety switch) were attached at the back of the engine. The top bolts were used to hold these metal clips to the engine and trans assembly but after looking at just not your NJ application but from all three plants I uncovered what appears to be another production difference between the plants.  Sure if we look at the assembly manuals they will show where Ford wanted or suggested them to be located. As we have found in the past the workers didn't always follow these to the letter but found what worked for them and would repeat that practice over an over again at their location.

Though the sampling is still small did find multiples (with no other variations) of each pattern so figured this was an opportunity to share and educated everyone while we answer your question.  In some of the pictures I placed a red arrow to indicate the wire clip and a yellow arrow to show the vacuum clip.

First NJ V8 automatic applications - Sorry didn't look at 6 cylinder at this point

Both clips (vacuum and for the neutral safety switch) at the passenger side upper bolt . They are so close and so similar in look its hard to make out the two clips one on top of the other
