C4ZE 8005 G1 radiator questions

Hi everyone,
Bought my Dearborn radiator from my 64 1/2 D-Code auto with A/C (July 6) with this radiator (C4ZE-8005 G1 5AB). Probably it is not date code correct, but look-correct? Since last year, I use a repro 3 row radiator (not the US made). I found a guy in Switzerland, he works with radiator for 50-60 years and has a lot of experience. I will give my "original" radiator to his shop for recoring and upgrade to a 3 row more efficient type.

Question: I found on the front-side a little tag (enclosed photo). Is this original or a sign of a previous recore? The guy think, it was never recored before..

I believe that the G1 designates a Dearborn Manual transmission application(in this case a HiPo 289). Your bottom tank does not seem to match the part number stamped on the side rail. I think it has been changed either during a re-core or rodding out.

Below is the G1 radiator for my May 65 K Code.

Michael, the tag was added when the radiator had a recore or just worked on. It is typical for many radiators shop to do that. I just took one off last week when the shop I use soldered a tank top on . In my case the ID tag was siliconed on. I suppose it helps with warranty issues and advertising. It was irritating to have to take off the core.

I’ll be interested to hear if the shop can make a 3 row core work with an original upper tank. I have a DEP manual set up and was told by a local shop that it’s not possible to squeeze in 3 rows due to tank size.

I will let you know. Just brought my radiator last week to his shop. He will probably work on in Jan/Feb. I hope it works.!

I've had four 65-66 V-8 radiators re-cored several years back, so it can be done (about $350 total). You may face an availability problem today.

you are right, it did not work with the 3 row. Today, I picked up my freshly rebuilt 2 row radiator, but with thinner fins for better cooling.

I thought I would chime in since I have just recently had a radiator top tank replaced with an original stamped top. I had a reproduction radiator that was several years old which started to leak at the top tank seam. When I contacted the Mustang vendor where I purchased it from, they actually said it was still covered and found to be a defect. They offered a replacement free of charge which astounded me. The  reproduction radiator that leaked was retained in hopes of resoldering it someday.
This past winter, I found a top tank I had scavenged from a march 65 Mustang and decided to marry the original top tank to this reproduction radiator. The local radiator shop charged me $100 and it worked out without a problem. This was a three core reproduction radiator and the original top stamped tank cover was able to be re soldered in place without any issue. Just to let you know it can be done and does work.
I will hang onto this refinished radiator as a spare even though I do not have a March 65 Mustang. Never know when you can use a spare radiator, and one that looks original at a glance. Attached are my pics.
