Semi-gloss or gloss black
« on: June 17, 2013, 06:13:47 PM »
Re: 1965 Fastback, San Jose, build date Feb. 65

I'm unsure as to the correct finish for the lower front crossmember and the transmission crossmember.  The rules simply state "black".  Would these parts be semi-gloss or gloss black?

Thanks

a semigloss black would be most appropriate.

Both of these parts were typically dipped in black paint, so would be a minimum of semi-gloss with maybe a touch more to the gloss side.

Went looking for this finish information for my 65.  Pictures are of my transmission cross member and mount.  Don't believe either have been touched up or repainted ?  Originally both would have been dipped and a shade of slightly glossy semi-gloss black ?  The crossmember itself carries a date stamp which can't be seen with the trans mount, C4ZA-6068-A, installed.  Brian
