Camshaft question

If I want to measure the factory specs on the cam in my 1965 Mustang’s original Hi-Po motor, do I measure at 0.040” at the lifter?  Or is it at 0.050” at the lifter?  Or a different number than those at the lifter?  Thanks, Ron
