Correct 4 speed early Nov. 64 SJ
« on: September 18, 2019, 11:37:05 AM »
I recently purchased a 65 convertible built in early November at the San Jose plant (5R08C154XXX).  The car is white with red interior, and a four speed transmission.  It currently has a T-10 in it.  Would the T-10 be the correct transmission or should it be a toploader? Thanks

Throughout the 64.5-66 time period, both the T-10 and toploaders were available and used somewhat interchangeably, probably due to what was available on the production line.  Some early Shelbys got special T-10 transmissions, but either tranny would be acceptable for your use.  The Dagenham 4-speed was specific to 6 cylinder engines.

Some research may be necessary on your part ?  Your T-10 might have several groups of ID's and date stamps that you may find helpful ?  The following lengthy post has some info on where to look.  More than one discussion on this topic.  Brian   http://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/index.php?topic=12091.msg73954#msg73954
