Bench testing a 65 two speed wiper motor

I have a 65 two speed wiper motor here and it appears to be dead and not functional.....but....want to double check I am bench testing this one correctly if anyone else has.

My understanding is the following:
Ground the single black wire AND the wiper motor housing.  Im grounding these together.

Provide power to the blue or the white wire in the terminal block.  That should activate the high or low speed. 
This what others have done?

The terminal connector has red, blue, yellow, and white wires.

Adding some photos and comment here for anyone who needs to bench test one of these in the future because its not self explanatory even with a wiring diagram.  You have a low speed, high speed, and park function that makes these a bit tricky to understand.  Special thanks to Kevin and Randy for additional information.  Instructions below tell you if you have a working, or non working unit. 

The seperate black wire is the ground.  You do not need to ground the case by itself like some comments I have read.
Jumper the two female connectors and put 12v to both male connectors for low speed, yellow only for high speed.  You will have the motor move right away.  If it doesnt move you have a wiring or mechanical issue inside the unit.  Mechanical issue should be easy to see if you open up the case cover.

The unit was good....but....I broke a small spring when I opened up the unit.  I bought another wiper motor core so should be able to take that spring out and get this all back to normal in the next week. 
With these early cars the last thing you want is to put it all together and then realize the wiper motor is bad.  Getting it out from under the dash is not an easy task.

Thanks for the straightforward explanation Marcus.  Out of curiosity what is the spring in the case used for and how did you manage to damage it?

Im not sure the exact terminology on the springs and parts in these motors, but if you remove the cover there is an eccentric that has a spring attached to it.  I completely took everything apart and that spring broke in the process.  The one and two speed motors are totally different so had to buy a non working unit to rob parts from.  Hopefully that will be a quick and easy fix.
