Here are some reference photos of original 9" rear axle brake lines from my 1970 mustang Boss 302 November Metuchen built car. The "short" brake line goes in top fitting hole to Dr (L) side wheel cylinder, and "long" line goes in lower fitting hole to Pass side (Rt) wheel cylinder. This is exact opposite of 1969 mustang 9" rear axle brake line routing. Also in Jim Osborn 1970 mustang Chassis assembly manual, pg 40, the rear axle brake line routing diagram looks like typical 1969 mustang, not 1970. As far as I know all 1970 mustang 9" rear axle brake lines are same, including 31 spl staggered shock cars

From what i seen a 70 351 c 4bbl mustang cougar with competition suspension had the same 2 hole 9'' housing and dual exhaust rear brake hose and lines like the boss 302/429 & 428 cj but it has 28 spline axles and smaller 1/2'' rear sway bar . The 70  regular suspension 302 and 351 c 2 bbl cars had regular non dual exhaust rear brake hose and different rear lines than the competition suspension cars.

I have build sheets for 351C4V 4 speed cars with 3.50 axles that show 31 spline axles.

How does build sheet ID. 31-spline axles  on 351 c  car. as the boss and cj cars have the rear end id # on the metal tag? I have bought several  southwest  rust pitfree 70 -351 c  4bbl.  rear drum to drums just to get the 2 hole staggered shock housing  and backing plates to use on boss and cj cars that were pitted as too many pits to fix on a 9'' housing and backing plates.

Believe your referring to decoding the code on the buildsheet rather than the buildsheet code in some way identifies by letter or number, if the axles are 28 or 31 spline.

For example "952A" verses a "982A"

Exactly, I guess I wasn't clear. I asked a question on the Boss forum if they all had 31 spile axles because I have a build sheet for an M code mach 1 with the same axle code as a B2 build sheet, a 3L50 31 spline. I couldn't find a complete list of axle plant codes and model codes so I have been trying to put one together.

I checked my Ford MPC and rear brake hose for 1970 mustang has same part # for all, whether dual and single exhaust, or 28 and 31 spl axle, stamped DOZA-2A448-B. Problem is noone makes correct size fitting on 1970 rear flex hose for D shape body bracket mounting hole, fitting ~ 0.060 smaller dia so cannot tighten steel brake line nut w/o hose spinning around. Already tried Classic tube and Right stuff, same issue. 1969 mustang body bracket mounting D shape hole is same size as 1970, and strangely the 1969 rear brake hoses have correct size larger D shape fitting for body mount bracket so will fit 1970 mustang. I suspect its because the 1969 used 7/16" female end tube nut while 1970 uses 3/8" tube nut so they machine fitting differently.

For others your referring to the flex/rubber hose with the brass threaded lock on the end. Base number 2282. 69 used two different hoses one for some dual exhaust (Boss and 428 CJ) and one for the other dual exhaust and single exhaust
