69 Boss - How to assemble SMOG & Alt parts to the Engine?
« on: December 14, 2023, 01:08:39 PM »
Is there a definitive diagram or procedure to assemble the SMOG/Alternator systems on the bracket and to the Engine.
(including hose routing?)

I have searched the site, but was only able to locate 'some' reference pictures, but nothing that's really clear on how all this stuff goes together.
Does anyone have a good Reference or description on the assembly steps?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Mike

Should be shown in the 1969 Engine Assembly Manual.  I don't have mine with me here to confirm but I am pretty sure it is there.

Yes it can be a challenge to find information since so much of the published pictures are of 70 Thermactor systems.

Looked in the 69 Engine Equipment  Assembly manual and mostly engine vacuum, fuel line, fan and belt routing in that manual. There is one page with the thermactor and alternator bracket attachment. Good thing is that there are not many parts and hoses like other systems so fairly straight forward. No real tricks other than I believe I put on the pump hose on the pump before I attached it to the engine bracket after I made sure I had it clocked correctly. Only two preformed hoses to deal with so that makes it easy

Some pictures of some of the parts and engine I hope will help

From someone else's (later) car

From my early car. Note: I used the later alternator pulley rather than the correct one for this car.

Guys, thanks for taking the time to point me in the right direction.
Those pictures have a lot of good info in them if you look close.
This is a big help and I really appreciate it.
