Title: Name that part - fan spacer
Post by: 67gta289 on June 16, 2015, 07:15:57 PM
Any assistance appreciated identifying this fan spacer.  Has the Ford script in oval.

My brother thinks it is from either a 68 302 or 390 he had on a Cyclone.  Thanks

Ford measured fan spacers from the pulley mounting surface to the top of the fan post, not mounting surface to mounting surface. Not one of their better ideas. The 289/302 spacer is 2.95 inches, but should have a raised part number for ID.

It looks like a 67-68 6cil. spacer.

Well, surprise, surprise. A 1 7/8 inch space appears to have a part number of C6OZ-8546-D, Motorcraft YA-81, which was used in 1967 on a 200CID I-6, and starting in Jan, 1966 on a Fairlane with a 390CID engine, W/WO smog. Other applications include Mustangs with a 428CJ (and super), plus a few others. My Ford Car Parts doesn't cover Mercury.

As said often, this is the place for answers.  Thanks!

Not exactly the prettiest casting - a lot of flow lines and some porosity. Nothing that would affect function. Is that an original or a repro?

It is original.  I'm sure that some of the "patina" is courtesy of Michigan environmental conditions and the products used in an attempt to cope with them.  Will probably put on eBay in a few weeks.
