Title: Question on holes in right rear frame rail
Post by: Wade429 on November 12, 2015, 09:48:32 PM
Should a factory dual exhaust car have the two vertical holes in the picture below.  This picture is of an R code coupe.  I checked on some other cars and they are not there.  I think they are for mounting single exhaust.  I am wondering for a Dearborn built big block car built in May 1969.

Thanks,

Wade

You have pictures of my frame rails?   Yes that is original to my car. Dearborn and the same holes on every 69 I have here.  On a plain old coupe like my driver, these two holes have a brace spot welded to re enforce the holes.   What you can't see in the pictures is the spot welds that tell you every 69 BB 4 speed and every 69 Boss 302's or Boss 429's or any 69 shelby, Should have the convertible extra brace welded to the inside of the rear frame rails ending a few inch's before those holes.  The spot welds are easy to see. No Automatic CJ cars had them unless a shelby.   I am sure a few slipped thru.  70's never had them.
