Title: Survivor Lime Gold 67 Coupe on BaT
Post by: 68 S Code on March 14, 2019, 10:47:30 AM
Last night an original owner, pretty original, survivor type 67 Coupe popped up on BaT. Still has original exhaust. Regretfully the engine was rebuilt a few years ago to freshen up the heads up for no lead gas. Maybe Jeff S and others should have a look and add some expert opinion to the auction. Good original details to be seen. This is a San Jose built car.

Looks nice, lots of detail/reference items to note.  Only see a few things here and there changed out (shocks, muffler, hoses, fuel pump, master cylinder, wheel cylinders...)  Would be a nice car to hunt down some nice original used parts and replace those with.

Looks nice. It appears someone has been handy with the spray can and the gloss in some areas of the car as well as many little things members here would take notice of.

Beyond that I don't typically comment on cars during an ongoing sale or auctions unless the owner requested and even then its likely best done in private ;)

In the last photograph of the undercarriage there appear to be two bolts and nuts going through the rear frame rail with the nuts on the outside. Isn't that where a tie down hook would be mounted? The hook is gone but the bolts are there. I believe the hooks were supposed to be removed during dealer prep but odd that someone would have put the bolts back.

Shouldn't a 67 have a washer bag versus the plastic bottle?

bag vs. bottle depends on production date.

Looks like what I've heard referred to as 'shake-n-shine'... that the car dealers spray over the whole car for detailing.

Bob after looking at 145 I now see it. My comment was based on 146. Does that undercarriage primer appear kind of shiny to some of you? It almost looks wet to me.

Refer to reply #5 . Charles's post is another way of saying spray/rattle can clear coat.

The wide oval spare tire is nifty. I dare say that the whitewall is half way up the sidewall.

The Super Sport Wide Oval spare tire is cool but is that original for a 67? I thought Deluxe Champion's were for 68 and these were for 69?

Wide oval usage started in 67

Here are a 67 (top) and a 68 (bottom) window stickers  with the wide oval showing

+1 ; however, for the subject car, the Wide Oval is incorrect. The Marti Report posted with the other pictures clearly shows that this car had (was supposed to have) "6.95x14-4 ply rated White Sidewall Rayon Tires".

Oops.
