Title: 68 Cougar unused wire ID
Post by: preaction on May 14, 2023, 01:09:19 PM
We have been trying to ID the use of this wire under the dash just above the gas pedal any ideas the car is a XR7 no tilt, air, rear defroster, am radio. The wire in question is the blue/white stripe green/white stripe going to one female connector.

If I remember correctly it goes to indicator light on the automatic shifter.

Marty, the car has a console and the shift light  and the end of console  lights are coming on I will look to see if they are connected to a proper harness plug.

At the fuse block there should be two single connectors, one light blue and one red. The light blue one is for the console glove box light and the rear floor light. The red one is for the shift indicator light. That should dim with the dash lights.

It looks to be part of a brake lite switch circuit for cruse control pressing the brake pedal gives this 12v.

" - a brake lite switch circuit - "
I think you mean " - a brake light switch circuit - ". The other word is a type of beer that has fallen on disfavor.

I'm only interested in the correct use of the English language. We have many forum members that don't use English as a first language so to make their reading of post A LOT better, we should strive to use proper English in our posts.
