Title: Original visor grain differences?
Post by: astat1 on December 19, 2009, 04:17:11 PM
I am replacing my visors on my 69 GT500 due to a garage remote imprint. I purchased a great original set (C8AB-6204122B) and redyed them the same black. Comparing my originals to the purchased set there is a definite difference in the grain. My originals are like the seats, generally smooth with linear graining (like leather). The purchased set grain is more like lizard skin. Is there a difference in a deluxe interior visor (or convertible) texture vs a non-deluxe visor? Thanks

I can't speak definitively on '69 models, but 65-68 convertibles had smooth grain like the seats on the sun visors.  Coupe/fastback visors were the same moonskin material as the headliner.  Coupe/fastback and convertible visors are shaped differently too.

The same held true through the 70 model year.  The converts had a smooth leather finish and the coupe/fastback had the headliner material.
