Title: wheel arch trim
Post by: 1970shelbyguy on May 04, 2012, 10:12:16 PM
did all 71 mustangs come with the holes in fender and qtr wheel arches to take the stainless trim?  even though the trim wasn't fact ordered.  is the trim part of the ext decor group?.  picked  up all four nos pieces.  my marti report says nothing about ext decor group. - just a plain jane sportsroof with the 429cj option ! 47k miles .  thought i'd hear from the experts before i go ahead and mount the trim.

Do your quarters and front fenders have the holes to mount the trim?

yes- holes are there   would i need the lower rocker trim piece too  or can the arch pieces be mounted without requiring the center lower rocker piece and be correct?

I am not 100% certain on the 71. However, my 72 Ford Fact Book (Ford pub. used by dealers) shows sportsroof coming with wheel lip moldings and rocker moldings. Chuck
