Title: Kick Down-Part 2
Post by: Skyway65 on February 19, 2010, 03:19:24 PM
I need some more info on the kick down project I’m working on.

Can anyone with an original ’65 6 cyl, (V8 may be the same I don’t know), tell me what type of finish is on the bracket that bolts on to the bell crank.  This is the bracket that is held on with the U clamp and goes down to attach to the kick down cable.  My original is pretty rough and it’s really hard to tell what the original finish was.  Thanks ;)

I believe some folks have found the bracket to be zinc plated, but best to get some more input to make sure.

Thanks for that Charles.  The only TINY bit that I can make out is the section covered by the U bolt and attaching nuts.  It almost looks like it was gold dichromate, not sure though.  To make it even more confusing, the back side (against the firewall) appears to be black paint but that could easily be undercoating because I assume the undercoating was added after the accelerator linkage was attached to the car.
