Title: interior quarter panel trim deterioration
Post by: 7Lscjracer on April 06, 2014, 02:58:30 PM
Looked at a nice 73 convertible yesterday, but the interior quarter panel trims have decayed and been repainted.
They do not look good at all.
I've seen lots of pics on eBay and it's a typical problem.
What's going on with these panels?
Is there a grain to them originally?
I wonder if some paint stripper for plastics the model railroad guys use would be a solution since grained panels just can't be sanded.
Hoping to hear how someone has successfully restored these panels rather than going catalog shopping.
Paint stripper?

Yes  there was a grain - unfortunately long exposure to UV rays deteriorates these over the years.

If they are in good condition the product you posted might work on them (tested in a hidden spot or old shot panel first)  - one would have to experiment with it
