Taillight harness
« on: February 10, 2015, 08:43:15 PM »
For 1969 are the side marker light bulb sockets a whitesh plastic? If so, how do make it look new? My 69 Cyclone are almost brown from age, I am guessing the mustang would have the same bulb socket. Rhode Island Wiring just recovered the wires( thanks Marcus) and I would like to fix up the sockets. Repo pieces?
Thanks Chris

Yes, most are a white w/brown tint, or a very pale brown (faded white?) that use a 194 bulb.  I have seen an occasional 1895 socket for the side marker lamps, particularly in the rear.

Yes I guess the best  description when new is a less then white white plastic. The problem with the repro is that although almost identical in appearance they lack the engineering number that is visible on the genuine . The outside bezel will pass muster but the white plastic portion is somewhat easy to identify if you are familiar with them.

Sorry for the confusion, I am talking about the socket that the bulb plugs into, at the end of the wires. Is that part of the repo wiring harness?

I have dozens of those plugs, but most are dirty and some have corroded contacts.  I could look through my piles and see what I have.  I suspect you only want the sockets and not the contacts.  I'm sure I could find you some nice ones for just a few bucks.  PM me if you want me to look.

Sounds crazy but a spray & soak in 409 may brighten the white plastic a bit.
