How to correct this?

Was there supposed to be a clip installed to hold the rear valence to the rear quarter panel?  I know this sheet metal screw is not original and I would like to correct this. 

This is a 69 Shelby in case it matters.

Originally there is a long threaded shaft with  wide, round and flat in to it that slides into a bracket welded to the back side of the valance.






 There is a sheet metal plate that is held to the shaft to keep the clip in place. Shaft passes through the lower part of the quarter panel and the stud is secured with a integrated nut and washer that holds it tight

The stud clip you need is 382121-S36, available from AMK as B-12016 but misidentified as 382155-S36 (see below) in their 2014 catalog, plus 45373-S36 nut, also available from AMK as B-12942. You will need to add a sealer available from AMK as B-11248 for a 20 pack, no Ford part number. It's a mastic sealer which may not be correct.
Note: 382155-S is identified as an 8-18X3/4 sheet metal screw in AMK Guide to Ford Fasteners. The 69 Mustang Body Assembly drawing calls out 382121-S36 which agrees with AMK Guide to Ford Fasteners.

Thanks guys.  I found the bracket and hardware still on the car.  It appears a exhaust shop was too lazy to reconnect the correct hardware when they removed it to install new exhaust at some point.  Someone put studs in my shelby exhaust collector and the drawings show there should be bolts that connect it to the rear of the trunk.  It was faster to run a new hole and sheet metal screw through the quarter panel.   ::)

Thanks for the info.  These items were included in the AMK body kit I bought for the car.  I installed the correct hardware and eliminated the sheet metal screws.
