Keep in mind that these post should stand alone so you need to enter what year, model, plant and in some cases, the build date.
In general, for a 64-66 Mustang, the connector pushes thru the firewall from the wired end and is held in place by a metal retainer attached to the connector. It is covered by sealant which should be scraped away for visibility and access. I use a large pair of channel lock pliers to compress the ends of the retainer together, a screw driver for assistance and some pushing on the connector to get it moving.

If you have removed the front half of the plug (that big spring loaded screw)  already then I seem to recall four fingers that hold the main underdash loom to the firewall.

If I missed this one someone will catch it quickly..... been a long day

Actually, there are two fingers on the engine side of a 69/70 firewall connector.  You can try pushing in on the two sides that are 90* from the alignment ridge from the engine compartment, or you can go inside the car and squeeze the two lock tabs and push it out.

 And, be gentle!  Breaking tabs, wires or connectors, getting impatient, can result in time consuming repairs or harness replacement.  Take your time. Make sure any sealant is removed and be careful of the tabs. They are old and may be a bit brittle.

Sorry for the incomplete question. I want to replace the engine compartment section of the wiring harness for a 69 Shelby gt 350 built in Dearborn on June 12th. Is there a main screw first then two tabs you squeeze towards the block and then pull towards the engine compartment? Thank you!

Yes.  Unscrew the bolt on the passenger side, middle of the fuse box.  I believe at this point, you can remove the fuse box from the firewall mate simply by pulling straight back away from the firewall.  Then, to remove the engine compartment mating connector, you need to squeeze the two tabs.  What keeps everything together is the bolt that threads through the middle.
