what color would you use for P & O appearance

cjmustangman:
In restoring a car when trying to duplicate Phosphate and oil appearance, what type of paint would be acceptable ?
A flat black type of paint ?
A natural type of paint ?
A flat black undercoat with some natural color thinly painted on top ?
Thanks
Arild
carlite65:
imho none of the above. p& o is really easy to do at home and presents a fresh long lasting appearance when properly maintained. do a search here for recommendations of products used by others.
J_Speegle:
Most are moving quickly away from paints since they may not be ok to use in shows in the future and they often fail over a period of time
If you have to use them I've used a light coating (to not remove any of the surface texture of the original metal) of Eastwood phosphate spray paint, followed with a light dry coat of dark charcoal metallic interior paint, and finally a light dry coat of satin clear
