67 Fastback Passenger Side Rear Interior Light.
« on: March 23, 2018, 07:38:42 PM »
On 67 ( and maybe 68) Fastbacks, the dome light in the passenger side rear fiberglass panel is fed by a wire not well documented.
I just found mine and here are the details:

- Wire is Black with Blue tracer (see pic) and has no part number.
- The assembly is 7' long from end to end (incl both female connector bodies).
- The wire has a female bullet on both ends, however the bullet installed to the 'front' of the car also has a short wire with a male bullet attached . In other words, two wires go into the 'front' female bullet.
- It is 4 1/4" from end of female bullet to end of male bullet on the 'front'.

The ground wire for the light is a C7ZB-13A709-A, bullet male on one end, ring connector on the other and is 12" long incl connector bodies.
The ground on the other side is a simple black wire with male bullet and ring connector without a plastic surround.
The id of both rings is 3/16.

See 67 Mustang Electrical Assembly Manual AM0018 page 16, E7-8140-2 (for 68, AM0023, page 18, E8-8140-2). The lamps are the same as used in 65 and 66 Fastbacks.

Yeah, I have that manual (and all the others).
'View B Section A'  is muddled by the access hole. It's just not that clear.

And, most people don't have that manual.

I believe the rear courtesy light socket has a male/female bullet 2 pin connector on it: one for the ground and the other for the signal.  The end that has a male and a female bullet nearby is where it connects to the underdash harness: the male plugs into the underdash and the female provides an additional lead for the optional door lamp.  The female end at the far end goes to the 2 pin connector (or female/male single leads) coming off of the lamp.

That is a wiring technique used by Ford to provide an extension for additional circuitry. Harness C7ZB-13A709-A has a "T" connection at the door switch, with a male contact going to the door frame mounted courtesy light switch, a female contact going to the lead that was originally going to the switch but now provides switched power to the rear courtesy lamp as well as other lamps in the circuit.
