1967 GT500 correct throttle return spring bracket
« on: July 03, 2023, 11:06:38 AM »
I don't believe that I have the correct bracket on my car currently. Mine is an L shaped bracket with a little twist to it. NPD lists the correct 428 CJ bracket as https://www.npdlink.com/product/bracket-accelerator-return-spring/107321 but nothing for a 428 PI. I assume this one was used for the PI as well? I can't find anything through a search here or in the library. Do we have a picture of the assembly somewhere? Thanks.

Mansfield Mustang sells a nice reproduction of the "THROTTLE RETURN SPRING BRACKET, with 2- 4BBL carbs on C7ZX intake" http://mansfieldmustang.com/EngineFuelCarbp1.html      . Although not exact it is very close.

Yes and the small special fresh air filter that sits on top of the short tube.

We have no pictures or schematics of how the assembly is installed? I will be putting on new spring, bracket, choke/air tube kit and fresh air filter for smaller tube.

Mansfield has a picture on his website on how the throttle spring is installed it you are referring to that given the thread topic. If you are now talking about the choke tubes then the long tube goes in the top hole of the choke furnace of the exhaust manifold and the short tube goes in the bottom hole with the top of the short tube pointing straight up. The fresh air choke filter goes on top of the short tube.

I ordered all of the parts from Mansfield today and he helped me with some information. He referred me back to you for the fresh air filter that sits on top of the short tube. He also referred me to the cobra jet website for choke stove installation. I bet the reason all of that stuff came off was because the stove pipe is clogged. We'll see. Thanks.
