Hi,
I have a 67 fastback 390 with air con and power steer.
The car is auto.
Just wondering what the best type/brand and size headers people use.
Also, does the engine have to come out?

Being a concours site I think you might get better answers and responses from those who do this (alter from original) on a regular basis. You might try were we use to hang out - VintageMustang.com
Plenty of hot rodders over there. They will need to know how you plan on using the car given its a big block would guess that their going to lead you towards bigger tubes since you likely will not need any additional bottom end. Guess it will not be equal length since that produces pipes running back and forth under the oil pan from side to since. You'll also have to figure out if ground clearance sill be an issue depending on how the car is set up.
As far as pulling the engine I'ld beat it would be a job without at least lifting it as its a tight fit. Always can look at notching or cutting the shock towers :0
