date codes on body panels
« on: December 22, 2013, 06:15:51 PM »

Can anyone please enlighten me if there are any reference documents/internet sources to help me in my resto of my '70 Mach 1 - I'm mostly coming across the D0ZB mark, but on occasion I see the attached and I'm confused as I do not know on such occasions if it is original or repro part.

Your help/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, Chris

P.S. please see attached LHS fender date code for my Mach 1 as an example

Current Mustangs:
1965 Fastback 289 K Code - Hi-Po - Caspian Blue

1970 Mach 1 Sportsroof 351C Auto - White - Project car and in Resto (started Sept 2012)

Past Mustangs:
1966 Fastback GT350 clone, Hi-Po 289, 4 Spd Man, White/Blue

Not sure if I've got the top line worked out

Bottom seems to be month - day of month - stamping plant then shift

Jeff, thanks, the car is 20th May 1970, according to Marti report  - do the marks accord with that timeline ?

Just about to strip off the pass side in enxt few days so I will check that stamp.

Many thanks for that link.

Using the tool decodes as 6th may 1970 @ Dearborn ( car build date being  20 May '70) - so looks like the original fender and I'm very happy at that !

Cheers, Chris
