TRX wheels
« on: May 21, 2014, 03:08:53 AM »
Hi, a friend here in Sweden just bought a nice -79 Mustang. It has both the turbine wheels/wheel covers? and the TRX wheels. Tires are hard as hockey pucks...
Is it possible to mount a "normal" Radial tire on the TRX wheels or does he need to find the real TRX tires?
I have seen them produced by Cooker - not chep...

thanks for any input!

It is my understanding that you have to use the correct tires.
What I have always wondered was how much difference in dimension are the TRX wheels verses the standard wheels. Are they bigger or smaller?
I have wondered if the TRX wheels could be turned ( modified) on a lathe to make them dimensionally into a standard wheel

I seem to recall a 390mm diameter which is 15.35".  Pretty hard to turn down or stretch fit...

There is at least one source in the US who modifies the TRX wheels to use standard 15" tires.  I believe they re-rim the wheel.  I have seen a car at Knotts which was modified.  They can also do offsets and widening of the wheels.  Not cheap.  It should be posted some place on "Foureyedpride" site.
