Nut & Bolt ?
« on: June 25, 2014, 05:25:03 PM »
The nut & bolt in the picture attaching the fender brace to the frame rail/bumper brace just doesn't look right.  It is the same on the other side.  The bolt head does have markings and needs 7/16 wrench's to remove.   OE or not ?    Brian

Brian,
The 1969 Body Assembly manual page is missing for that detail, so assuming that Ford did not redesign everything for every year, using the 1970 Body Assembly manual, which uses all 69 part numbers for brackets and braces (the valence is a 1970 p/n), the bolts should be the same as the other end of the fender brace, and use a nut clip (2 bolts, 2 nut clips per side per car that brace). Hardware specifics are: bolt, 57060-S2 1/4-20X5/8 thread length plus a lead point, disc washer; nut clip, 45263-S2 1/4-20 0.960 L, 0.610 W. Both items are available from AMK but the bolt is -S36.

Thank you Jim.  The fender side of this brace does use a nut clip and a SEMS bolt with captured washer.  So 1/2 right and 1/2 wrong.  I know I have the nut clips.  Will have to look around for the SEMS bolts.  Brian

More likely IMHO Jim Osborn didn't find a usable copy to include in  the book :(

Agree with the J nuts and standard (like the other front sheet metal assembly) bolt

Here is a 69 NJ front fender bracket and hardware from the top side
