Title: 1966 Front Emergency Brake Cable
Post by: Twilight65 on April 18, 2010, 05:27:59 PM
Has anyone restored an original Front Emergency Brake Cable? Seems to be all metal. Could it be bead blasted then re-plated. What was the original finish?

Thanks,
Dave

PS I was also thinking the speedometer cable could be done also, since the ends and clamp at transmission are rusted and plating does not affect plastic/rubber.

Try soaking in evaporust and then tumble/polish.

Thanks Charles, I hadn't thought of that, I've been using evaporuat on some other parts with a lot of success, It's some good stuff. I guess the original finish then was just bare steel.

Thanks,
Dave

Yes, it was a natural finish.
