Title: A Fog Lamp Door -aka- Trim Ring Question or two -
Post by: jwc66k on September 09, 2016, 05:52:29 PM
What are the differences between 68 trim rings and 65-67 rings?
I have several of what I've identified as 65-67 rings and none have any identification markings. Two do have what appears to be small "stops" or "steps" on the inside that might have been used to aid in mounting the rings to the housings, or possibly part of the casting process. Is the lack of markings significant, as in Ford's suppliers didn't mark them, or are these reproductions?

Scott Drake repros are identified on this post, others appear to be without ID.
NPD and the MPC (Ford Car Parts) have different part numbers for 65-67 and 68, Virginia Mustang has the same stock number for 65-68 trim rings. (Yes, the housings are different for 65-67 and 68.)

Don't know about 68 but 66 originals have a number cast into the bar. I have a 1 and a 4

I have one set of repo lights from the mid 80's (center) which other than the missing number appears identical to to original (right). Another set of repo lights has a Drake ring and that is obvious.

Bingo! That's part of the answer. I have two with a 1, two with a 4 and one with a 3. It's easy when you know where to look.
Now, about a 68 door.
Thanks,
Jim
