Finished up the brakes on the K convertible today (well, 3 of 4!). There was a previous post asking about the correct detailing, so thought i would post here. Some of the details carry over to other years, but would suggest to do your homework and not simply copy what is seen here. For reference, the car is a Feb '65 San Jose convertible. The rear backing plates were originally Kelsey Hayes, the fronts were Bendix. There are minor differences here and there, most having to do with rear hardware, like the parking brake levers and equalized brackets, which are stamped KH. The rear drums are also KH.

Fixed, thanks. Moved to a different site name years back. (The original post was made almost 10 years ago!)
The mistakes fixed were the cups for the shoe pins should be gold and the shoe pin spring for the rear shoe should be black.

For people with other years where do we get the information on the various colors for springs, pins and cups? And for the colors on the brake cylinder inside the drum?

You ask/post a question in the appropriate section with the specific (type of car, engine size and so on) details ;)
Believe some of this is covered in the shop manuals

Let's just say I'm impressed that over the years enough original cars have been found and data accumulated to restore to this degree.
The shop manual does list the colors on the brake lining. I was surprised it showed that. But I've never seen spring colors (and pins, etc) mentioned.
Before I ask the question in the appropriate section I'll have to clean up my springs and other assorted pieces, write down the colors I found and THEN ask the question.
